Is it iron? Could be a crude tent stake. Small rr spikes have been believed to be tent stakes. Per communication with the Chattanooga Relict hunters in the past.

You are correct in that it could be a tent stake however there is a bulb on one side towards the end and a convenient hook for your finger on the other. Thank you for your reply

Its a dead ringer for the one I found recently, so I will take a scan of it couple of views, and stick it in this thread. Promise...!
I was thinking it was half of a cotter pin, as it has a taperd/sharpened end...

Yeah I’ll be damn. I think that is it. Or part of it. Doing electronica sis now however won’t be able to get the US stamp off of it because it’s too far gone however good ID and thanks for the help. It’s a keeper in my book!

Broken tine from plow rake? Many various sizes and types, fairly common in farm fields. Just my 2 cents.
