need help to ID this bullet

I don't know anything about bullets that are older than last week. Can anyone help me ID or put an age on it? As you can see it has two rings and a hole in the bottom. Found it at 9 inches. Thanks.

Can you give us some measurements? 50 cal.?, height, etc.?

It certainly appears to be Civil War period, but as brnn53 said, measurements would help.

I'm guessing you want length and diameter?

That is correct, I have the M&M reference book and can look it up to give an exact read on what it is.

I'll bring it to work tomorrow and get one of the aviation mechanics to measure it with the calipers. I'll post the measurements tomorrow. Thanks for the help.

Re: need help to ID this bullet

I'm still working on nailing it down in the book, but at first blush it definitely appears to be a CW period pistol bullet, 44 cal. None of the rifle rounds, with grooves (that I can tell) are this small a diameter. Most of the picket bullets are smooth with no rings. I'll keep looking and if I find an exact match I'll post an update.
