To ground balance push the GB button which is on the lower right hand portion of the control panel and has a coil up/down arrow symbol. This mode provides an enhanced response to ground noise. Set your sensitivity to about 75% while doing this procedure.

The ground balance adjustment range is from 0 to 20 and changed by pushing the +/- buttons. At it's extremes, that is, if the detector is adjusted away from the ideal GB point you will hear a loud high or low tone. As the detector is adjusted towards the correct GB point the loudness of the tone will go down. Depending on the intensity of the ground signal the detector will either go silent at the GB point or will exhibit mixed tones. If you go beyond the GB point the detector will change tones which will grow in loudness the further you go beyond.

After leaving GB mode change to All Metal and continue bobbing the coil while increasing the sensitivity till the detector begins to react to the ground. In lightly mineralized soils you may be able to increase to maximum, in tougher soils adjust accordingly.
