I debated between a fisher f70 and minelab xterra 705 ,,well I got
the minelab 705 and have read the book 10 times and watched the
video's 5 times then put about 35 hours in the field with it and found
it light to swing and dead on with quarters and dimes but have not found
any rings with it and think it will do just fine as a back up for my
garrett 1350 and ace 250 because the xterra does not go as deep as the
1350 and the ace 250 goes just as deep as the xterra. some will
disagree with me I am sure but I have carried both machines and compared
them both on the same target and this is what I found.

I have been saying for years that all detectors get about the same depth on coins............ Sure you will get down a foot or so on a large object.............. But on coins i think all this depth that ones say they get is just in there dreams.................

I'm sorry to hear you would use the 250 over the 705. Maybe you havent swung over a ring? What coil are you using? The 6" coil gets the best depth for me. Some say the 7.5khz coil is best for rings. I mainly prospect with mine and if I can find a .5g nugget you should have no problem finding a ring. I had a 350 and the 705 knocks the socks off of it.

Here is my main settings:
Sens: 28 - 30
Threshold: 0
Auto ground tracking on
Auto noise cancel
18.75khz 6" DD coil
