I've been detecting since 1982 and have used many machines but never a Minelab. Last week I had the opportunity to purchase two used machines, an Explorer 2 and a Quattro, both of which are in excellent to nearly new condition. Both had been sitting in detector bags in the fellows closet since 2007. The Explorer is in excellent condition, certainly a 9. The Quattro had only been used 6 to 12 times by his wife. The only thing keeping it from being an 10 is its well out of warranty.
So despite my reluctance to try Minelabs because of the wacko sounds, here I go. From what I've picked up on the forum, with the choice of these two machines I would be better served keeping the Explorer 2 and selling the Quattro.
And in my long winded way that's the purpose of this post. That is to confirm the Explorer is the way to go.
