705 settings questions

I have a xterra 705 and wondering if i am running my machine right. I am finding lots of stuff coins a few rings lots of tabs lol running in all metal mode in ground tracking with the ground balance offset at +2 i am hitting targets but nothing deeper then 6 or 7 inches? It it just the limit of the 5x10dd my ground balance is tracking 27-30

In all probability, it the coil that is limiting you.
A 5x10" DD is depth limited by it's narrow width to that similar of a 6" round coil. By virtue of it's length it just covers more ground.
General rule of thumb is that a given coil is good for it's diameter in depth. So a 6" coil is usually good for about 6" deep. In the case of an eliptical, you go by the width. So a 5x10" is good for 6" or so, because a little gain is had from the strength of the longer field.
