A question on where Minelabs are made?

I don't think that the components are made anywhere that they weren't before. I think that all that has changed is where they are assembled. Big deal. Even if some parts are now made somewhere else, it's all still under Minelab QC, so I doubt that they would allow a compromise in the product itself in any way.

I took some pics of the Sov GT box I just shipped out to someone and the Xterra 705 box I have. The GT box has labels saying its made in Australia and Ireland. Xterra is made in Malaysia.

As you can see, my GT was designed/engineered in Australia, as all Minelab products are. It was then assembled in Malaysia thru a contract with U.S. company Plexus Corp.

Bottom line is it's much cheaper to assemble many products in Southeast Asia...

Penzfan got it exactly right... Designed in Australia, made in Malaysia for Minelab by a US owned company called Plexus. Older models were made in Ireland and Australia before the switch a few years back.
