I set up my threshhold to about 17/18 just so I hear it but just barely if I go 16 I dont hear the hum my question is what am I setting up I understand that it will go quite when I go over something that I have discreminated out but what happens if I run with it higher or lower what does it effect
yes I have Andys book still not sure what setting with the threshhold

It is my understanding that it is best to set the threshold to a point where you can just hear it. The threshold tone will cut out when over a deep target that is too deep for the VID to register. I believe it will do so regardless of how high you have it set, but, a loud threshold tone might become very annoying after a very short time.
Disclaimer: I'm no expert on the CTX, still learning myself. The info is just my understanding, I could be wrong.
