Congratulations on the finds! Yes, the 17" can add a few inches of depth. But ime, the best reason to get a larger coil for the beach is the greater areal coverage in a swing. Deeper is just a nice byproduct.

My friends that use the CTX and have the 17" coil tell me they don't think they're getting any more depth with it over the stock coil. Have any clinical tests been done to verify one way or the other?

I might have to see if there are any Youtube videos on the larger coil depth differences

I've not personally used the CTX3030's massive 17x13 coil, simply because I have a GPX 5000 for the times when I really want to go with a large, deep coil. However my customers do indicate a nice increase in depth with it... of course each person's experience will be different depending on their circumstances.
