For those of you who are winning about the high cost of the RNB battery pack do the math, here is my math from another post on the cost of AA vs RNB rechargeable.

I did a littler more research late last night and found battery packs for my safari by a company called RnB. According to them their packs would run my detector for at least 30 hours, three x's the Minelab's rechargeable could run it. Cost including the charger $139.
With 500 complete recharges for it's life cycle that's 15,000 hours. So cost for 5,000 hours would be $46 bucks. It's just another option out there.

If I can get 100 packs of alkaline batteries for $25 the total cost for 5000 hours run-time = $500. A saving of $250 over the cost of 24 count packs. Don't buy them all at ounce as alkaline have a shelf life of only 5 years.

I need to show my wife that we will save money by going to rechargeable in the long run, her being an account I need to show my math

don't forget to add the cost of the electricity to run the charger. :laughing7: To me, just the convenience of not having to swap out the batteries as often, and the 2 hour recharge time is worth the cost.

I charged mine in the car, so it never cost me a dime for the electricity. I was going to be driving around anyway, might as well something extra out the milage!

I too really love the RNB battery it goes and goes and goes I usually get a week of hunting or more it will more than pay for it self in time detecting rather than waiting to get your pack charged. I have mine in a Minelab SAFARI. You will totally love how long it lasts . And also how fast it gets charged up!!!!!! You will not be sorry.

I charge mine in the car, too...that's when I need to, anyway. Which isn't very often. Charged it full in March and just noticed today that it's one bar down now. Well worth the investment, IMO. 😃

Might as well add to this...when I ordered the CTX I also ordered an RNB for my Explorer2. The battery charges very quickly and the run time is OUTRAGEOUSLY long. The one gripe I have is that MY dumb ass didn't get one last year. Oh well, live and learn. The RNB is SO much better than any other option that second place isn't even in sight. MY experience, your mileage won't vary...

I received the rechargeable and also the AA housing when I purchased my E-trac. I plug it in the night before my hunt the next day. I usually hunt 6-8 hours at a time and have never had the battery go down past one half. I am sure that the RNB is a great battery and I am sure I will get one when the standard Minelab rechargeable dies. Until then, it is not a requirement or an inconvenience. My money was better spent getting a new Sun Ray X5 sniper coil. I will also probably upgrade to a Sunray pin pointer before the RNB.

I've been looking at these for a while now but can't decide on buying one of these right now or a nice new shovel

The Rnb battery was the second best thing I bought for my Safari, The RTG 6" alum/s.s steel tip scoop was the first.

As always I seem to eat my words. I found a deal on a RNB that I couldn't pass up. :icon_thumright:

I had my stock battery die once on a Explorer I had bought used after I had walked about a mile down the beach! It really sucked since I had used it several times for several hours and had never had the battery gauge hardly move!

I use the RnB innovations on my Explorer SE. What a pleasure to hunt without worrying about running out of power.

A quick note if someone hasn't mentioned it...your battery time is determined by all those things like backlights, headphones or not, open patterns or not, etc(open pattern constantly driving the audio). Just wanted to reiterate that...not trying to beat a dead horse.

After using my RNB for a week now, I am very happy with it. It was charged when I received it and have been on 3 hunts, that have lasted between 3-4 hours each and the battery still reads full charge. My stock rechargeable would be almost dead by now. I can't speak to recharge time as mine is still going great on it's first charge.

recharge time is damned fast! I think a couple hours to charge and then youre ready for another 40 hours of hunting!
