I'm not dead yet, but wish I could

say the same thing about my dad (died late April). Now my mom has an irregular heartbeat & diarrhea & may need a pacemaker so she might have to postpone her cataract surgery. All very stressful & keep thinking I need to be around house , but maybe I should be out detecting.

I don't drive & have about 20+ health problems myself, so I don't get around to the older places I've researched. Might be good if I could go detecting with some people but I have trouble getting up before about noon & my back pain-scoliosis? may prevent me from detecting over 3 hours at a time. I probably have'nt been out more than a dozen times this year, just to the cleaned out nearby new places. I'm in AV near BV.

At least I got a couple new detectors to test out. Now that the weather is cool I hope to get out more. How's your 2010 going? Best wishes, George (MN)

Hi Goose-O, Twin Cities V code AV or APV=Apple Valley BV or BUR=Burnsville LV or LVL= Lakeville SV=Savage GV=Golden Valley MV=Mounds View

They have 2 or 3 letter abbreviations for about 300 suburbs in those Twin Cities street atlases, but yes very unknown to those out of area.

I'd get like SC=St. Cloud SR=Sauk Rapids WP=Waite Park but not sure what abbr I'd expect for Sartell. Oh, I see it now SRL.

Outstate, spoken abbreviations: Alex=Alexandria Hutch=Hutchinson Monte=Montevideo but those are probably more obvious. HH, George (MN) 20 mi S of Mpls.

Thanks for the info George, that was helpful. The detecting season here is almost over.....been out only twice in the last week. I'm normally out 5 nights a week around here during the summer and then on a few trips to Chicago, Ohio, and Montana. I always detect in the St Cloud area because it's a large city .. 63K people and was founded in 1856. I live in a smaller town just 6 miles from St. Cl. and became a town in 1907. We moved here 37 yrs ago -- Pop. 1100.........Now 15K...too bad. Heck, we have 3 stop lights now. More later.
