I'm just wondering what are some Mississippi folks methods for cleaning coins. I've read about the vinegar and salt and was wondering if that would be safe for most coins. I found a 1905 indian head penny today and washed it with soap and water to get the date and the son of a gun is so green now that it is drying that you can't hardly tell what it is. Also found 2 1950 something wheaties and a 1945 Canadian penny. Also if someone can explain to me how them things get to the 'sip? LOL!! I am just guessing maybe someone in the service at sometime or another picked it up. Anyway, thanks for any cleaning tips and happy hunting!!!

Welcome. Check out cleaning and restoration forum here on t-net. Indian heads are all right green for me. Having done bad things to some i would not go beyond a peroxide bath, don,t try that till you research other methods. That canadian may have been on vacation.:laughing7:
