you could metal detect over on the Merimac river at a place nicknamed" little st. louis" lots of open areas for swimmers/campers for years.

there are a few places out in Meramec State Park. Few Ghost Towns to the north. Depends on what you are looking for.

You can't detect in MO state parks, unless they have a swimming area that you can get a permit to detect on. Same with Dept of Conservation areas. You can detect, but can't dig holes, or carry out any 'artifacts' (artifacts being unexplained) so basically no.
