Flint Knapping as an Art Form

I picked this modern stone point up at my local Good Will yesterday for $5.99 + Tax. I thought it was a rather nice piece of art, so I bought it. The point measures 3-1/8" by 1-3/16" and I so admire the calico look of the material, along with the workmanship.

Goodwill never ceases to amaze me. I try ed my hand at knapping and brought some pieces home from obsidian dome off of 395 in the sierras. I think it was the wrong kind of obsidian.
    Good find at G.W. store.

Someone put a lot of work and time in on that blade, just to end up at goodwill. I think you scored again!

No mention of who knapped it? You'd pay 10X what you paid at a knap-in. Gary

Indeed I thought the whole piece was well executed and not put together with cheap materials. The case is solid oak and with a glass front and a backing of real leather. I'm telling ya you just never know what you can find in a thrift store. My guess on how it got there is somebody maybe passed away and everything went to the thrift store or there was a spring house cleaning and a wife asked a husband, "do you really need this". As far as who made it there is a phone number on the back.

Well it's 5:30 am and time for me to put the turkey in to action... Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
