    Knapped Clovis style Unfluted

I knapped this knife a few months ago. All the reduction was with done with soft hammer percussion. (moose, & deer antler billets). I chose not to flute this piece, because I have left a bad "step hinge" on one side, that likely would not flute. The material is a Texas Flint.

not bad at all triplecreek, monster too, you have to be pretty confident in your knapping skills to pull off a good flute, helps to have lots of backup material too.

    Thanks, Thirty7

I flute free hand, and only break about 25%.

    Nice point TripleCreek
I'm guessing that free hand fluting is harder than the other options?
What are the other options.? I saw a jig somewhere and I saw a demo
somewhere of a forked tree branch method. I don't claim to be a great
knapper or to know that much about knapping,
but I have made unfluted clovis style points out of
    glass and other materials.
(I will post pics of some of my points one of these days)
I haven't knapped since last fall.
My points usually are too thick still, but I'm learning.
Just havn't had the time to learn a fluting method.
Don't suppose you want to teach me. lol

I agree very nice triplecreek. Since you are using the ancient method of knapping could you tell me about how much time this took from the preform or blank?
    Thanks a lot
