Indian War Era Infantry Hat Pins!

Wingman Tony and I got out to hunt for a few hours this morning. He's still getting used to his new Garrett and loves it. I'm still swinging my BH and have no regrets.

The first significant item found was Tony's, and I took this picture of him before I even got over there to see what he found...

And it was a beauty! His first U.S. Army Infantry slouch hat pin (Bugle - not crossed rifles)! Damn I was excited for him...

Indian War Era Infantry Hat Pins! -2.jpg

However - not to be outdone, I found my own pin 5 minutes later... well, most of one anyway... :P

In case your wondering what they are supposed to look like see the comparison below.

We both dug lots of gharbash but these are the keepers... all relics - and all left by infantry soldiers between the late 1860s through the late 1890s on the Montana prairies.

    Tony's:

Jim's: (Oh yea, and a nice Eagle button with no backmark...)

Not as excitng as Bdoo's 8 million rings but dang we had a fun day! Thanks as always for looking!

    Jim,
Although it wasn't exactly a BDoo hunt, you guys still found some neat relics to toot your own horn to. Or should I say "bugles"? As always, great pictures. I'm sure Wingman is hooked now.
    Was it 110 degrees again?
    Congrats Guys,

FYI - Tony has been detecting for a long time and been detecting with me for over two years... most of the stuff I have found he has also found. We've put a lot-o-miles on in Montana.

We quit today around noon... I think it was only in the 90s...
