Hey Montana, great pictures! Man, that's a lot different looking than Long Island. Those are real Cowboys - we don't have too many on the Island. By the way, congrats on your finds, especially that Indian Police Button - very cool!

That Indian button really captures the imagination. "God helps those who help themselves" ? That's kind of strange slogan to stamp on a button.
Congratulations on the excellent relics and thanks for the photos!

It was at a time in our history out west when the mantra was to save the savages from themselves... teach them to farm, and teach them to ranch... no living off the "Government's " land anymore. The idea was stay on the reservation and learn to live like the white man.
It's kinda funny... the white man sure helped themselves... did'nt they?

WOW JIM What a fantastic story and pics....it was like being right there with you....those are some nice finds....but I think the bottle dump needs to be dug out more.....older stuff beneath. There were the wire bottle stops there that indicate older stuff. So cool and I love the buttons and thimble.....and the gypsy cans .....next time tho ,can we see a pic of your happy dance?
I go a great distance, while some are considering whether they will start today or tomorrow
