Just got back from vacationing in Montana. I got the opportunity to hunt a small town 1 ½ acre park in the town our hotel was in. One of the city workers that was mowing the grass when I was there told me it dated back to about the 1920s and that he had seen people metal detecting in it before over the years. In-between trips to Glacier Park and other vacationing destinations, I managed to get 6 hours of hunting at this park and it was a hot spot. I managed to get 8 silvers, 18 wheaties and one 1940s Canadian penny. Silver included 2 Rosies (1950D, 1964D), 3 Mercs (1919S, 1937, 1940), 1919 Canadian dime, 1901-O Barber quarter (semi-key date) and a 1935 Washington quarter.

Wow, you did well! I just got back from Montana also from visiting a son & his family in Anaconda. I had little time to detect because we had to hit some Cub games. My 8 day trip: Leave central Minnesota Fri and drive 1035 miles to Anaconda (30 miles N of Butte). Go 4 wheeling on Sat & Sun and a little detecting at local parks. My son's family (8) & I leave in 2 vehicles and head to Seattle on Mon (600 miles). We take in 3 Cub games - Tue, Wed, Thur against the Mariners. As I predicted, they only won 1 of 3 games. (Safeco Field, around 11 yrs old now, was the cleanest park I've ever seen.....and drinking fountains everywhere....but beer at $8.50 for around a 14 oz cup? Yeah, fools purchased it.) Leave Fri morn to drive 600 miles back to Anaconda. More 4 wheeling in mountains & a little detecting Sat & Sun. Leave Mon morn for the 1035 miles back to central Minnesota....averaged 73.56 MPH coming back. I'm originally from Chicago and "escaped" Chicagoland many snows ago....thank God.
