If you ever get over to the Flathead give me a shout. I've read some where on this forum you need a permit in the parks of Great Falls I'd at least check into it. Good luck.

That's where I would check. We detected all winter long last year on the shores of Flathead lake. They built a dam years ago that raised the lake a long time ago, every winter the lake goes down like 11 feet to levels where the old stuff is but don't tell anyone its a secret.

The lake hasn't froze in years. The shore is really rocky and we use a pick or claw hammer. Its tough but its better than sitting on the couch. Did you find anything about permits to hunt parks in Great Falls.

ok so Great Falls city parks and rec requires a 5$ permit that is good for 1 yr. ...this however does not cover the montana expo park as it is a county park...state and county parks as of right now do not allow people to use metal detecters in the state or county camp grounds and parks...
