OBSIDIAN CORE 001.JPG

This is probably older than any coin I will find even if it doesn't have a date stamped on it. Found this obsidian core this summer while metal detecting. Right on top of the ground. I figure it got turned up after some recent dirt work in the area which was why I was metal detecting there in the first place. This was used by Native Americans or older man to make arrowheads or other micro blades. The walker is just pictured to get an idea of the size.

Nice find. great to see it with the obvious lithics taken out of it to make blades. Not a lot of obsidian in that area so it was valuable piece in its day. I have only found a couple arrowheads total in MT. To find the raw material block is a good find.
