It looks like Michael Curtiz who filmed Captain Blood and the Sea Hawk had a special relationship with Northern California after looking at the films, noticed shots that included Santa Cruz area beaches.

Which I guess makes sense, it seems a lot of those shots labeled Laguna Beach would of been hard to get with population density around Laguna Beach at the time.

Especially prior to 1950
I know parts of Hells Angels (1930) was partially shot in Oakland and All Quiet on the Western Front was partially shot near San Simeon.
Anyone know of any other mismarked or unmarked movie shooting locations in Northern California Prior to 1950?
It also looks like Wings (1927) has some Bay Area Aerial Shots as well.

If not for the 1906 earthquake the Bay Area probably would of been the film capital of the world. Prior to 1906 the Bay Area had more film studios than So. Cal.
