    Poster Boy

Half as old and twice as smart (looking).
***relative that is.............. with the present***

The photo is admittedly a staged metal detecting find and outing. The setting is a local park where I had spent many hours searching and found some great coins, including a 1909 S mint Indian cent. The metal detector in the photo, is my competition (speed hunt) machine, the notorious Compass 77B Auto. The actual deep seeking (for the era) coin and relic machine for me back then was in fact the Teknetics 9000. The coin in the photo is a true metal detecting find, a Barber half dollar, although one previously found at another site. Bright rich colors were the themes that the photographer was seeking. We searched for the darkest green patch of grass, and it was suggested that I wear my deepest red shirt, along with the brightest white shoes. For aesthetics, the photographer requested that I take off my usual headphones (I never hunted without them). When the photo went to print, the publisher selected bright contrasting colors on the cover printing, to stand out from the photo. 8)

These days, a current photo would likely land me on the cover of RUSTY & CRUSTY RELICS.

Thanks guys for the warm welcome and kind words!!!

    Fossis,
Treasure Found was one of my favorite magazines back in my early days of treasure hunting.
What year and issues were you in? I probably have them in my large collection of treasure magazines.
