Don't Laugh

I just found this recently, taken years ago.

A friend of mine and me went to the Uwharrie National Forest in southern North Carolina to do some gold panning. We had a ball. We did find some flakes and on the last day, I found a small nugget. It rained alot, they were in a severe drought. That is the bank of the stream above me.

This was about 10 years ago. I remember DigginGirl was only a baby, so I'll date it Labor Day weekend, 1997.

This is the only pic I found of the trip, except for one of the tent.

Thanks for looking.

Digging for gold could never make a bad picture, especially when you find some.

I don't think this was taken in the river, but I do know where you are talking about, Charles.

Most of the panning was done in the smaller creeks that feed into the river.

right now all those good creeks are dried up. I have been waiting for enough rain to work an old mine area creek.
