So is Herman's Hermits out of the running ? :D ;D

The short answer is:

Hell Yes!

Herman's Hermits ruined the great little rock show of 1967 Hullaballoo!

"I'm heneri the 8th i am, heneri the 8th I am I am" repeated ad nauseum

or who could forget:

"Dandy, Dandy
Where you gonna go now?
Who you gonna run to?
All your little life
You're chasin' all the girls
They can't resist your smile
Uh-hmm, they long for....Dandy, Dandy" ad nauseum

Burn in Hell, Herman's Hermits! Peter Noone....What a jerk.

As a musician I tend to look more at talent rather than the phenomenon factor. People I put in the phenomenon category are Jimi and the Beatles. While they were fantastic in their own right, a lot of their fame came from timing rather then raw talent in my opinion.

As far as raw talent my picks would be Lynyrd Skynyrd(more southern rock) Def Leapord and a little known Christian rock band called Stryper. As you can tell I'm partial to guitars.

Stryper was awesome! They just came out with a new cd a while back....not as good as their old stuff, but still pretty good. I thought it was really cool that instead of throwing guitar picks out to the audience they handed out Bibles. Michael Sweet has one of the most incredible voices in music today...my opinion, of course! ;D

I couldn't agree more.

I look at each of the musicians talent, because I believe just having 1 or 2 really great talents just makes them good, not the band as a whole. Every one of the Stryper members are very talented. I love their guitar sound, and Sweet is second to none, in my opinion, on vocals.

Yeah--- John Kay had some good stuff---I saw him in concert in 1990 and he looked and sounded like he did in 1970.

I also saw him in the early 90's along with The Guess Who and The Marshal Tucker Band. Don't know for sure how many original members were in those bands at the time but still a great show.
