Ha ha....Crossroads.....I must have watched that movie 40 times when I was a young lad! I wanted to post that "Cutting heads" scene a while ago but couldn't find the whole thing.
Although Steve Vai is a wicked guitarist, Ry Cooder did most of the soundtrack.
Speaking of Ry, that guy kicked the door wide open for me into the world music scene and his projects are epic!
By the mid 90's, my world music collection was up to around a 1,000 Cd's!

Unfortunately, Ali Farka Toure passed away but here's a live performance of the same song without Ry. This video is amazing as you can see the blues spreading like wildfire with some of the traditional musicians.
Of course that's not a surprise as African Americans invented the blues.



I plan to do a thread on World fusion, as that's a big musical passion of mine but here's a few more bluesy ones for this thread.
Recommend Hazmat Modine if you've never heard of them.
Here's one that they have Tuvan throat singing masters Huun Huur Tu appear on.....



Throat singing became a passion of this old American blues musician and his story can be seen on this cool documentary "Genghis Blues."

Always liked 'Need Your Love So Bad'. Have some other artists renditions of it. One is Gary Moore, one's by John Edmonds, and I don't remember the other one or two.
