it starts out shaky... but stick with it for a bit... heh.

You do know that you cannot be a Floyd fan and not at leas like the DEad do you ?
they shared ALOT...
Equipment...
Sound stages...
Managers... etc through the years.

I have met and hung out with em...
Another "moment" in my life...
I saw them several times as well...
The first time was just like Floyd... in the sense... IT BLEW ME THE F AWAY !

the second we hit the Parking lot in Long Island at the Wall Concert.
a car full of dead heads from California pulled up along side us and asked where to get Grateful dead tickets

the one thing I really liked about the dead was their Pro Piracy take on recording their concerts.
Not too many bands wanted their fans to record them
considering how much the fans make the Bands you would think they would respect them more.

I'll give it a listen, I can handle a few of their songs but too Hillbilly sounding imo

they just wanted dead tickets & Traveled Coast to coast for them

To me this was a great tour year...

well ,I think I now see the appeal of the Dead
at approximately the 1:40:00 mark after Terrapin Station it got very good for about 45 Minutes.
I never heard that stuff before So I don't know the titles. was all psychedelic & Excellent.
at the 2:25:00 mark give or take... Sugar Magnolia came on & it went back down hill imo.

But I do have a better understanding if their appeal

Others are balls to the wall...
those are the ones I like.

Some albums/songs rock... others are like ... ehhhhhhh

You know... not with Floyd though ... loved every album... even the new stuff... some more than others...
BUT ! ...
I did not really care for the first ones with Sid as much... ART yes... ehhh music... ehhh NOT Floyd.
I am a GILMORE AND Waters fan.

I believe "A Saucerful of Secrets" was my first Pink Floyd Purchase & Experience of them

the Final cut sounded like outakes from the wall that should have stayed on the cutting room floor.

after that I haven't tried to listen to any of their newer stuff & what I have heard.
really didn't impress me. was just there.

The Gilmore/waters split really put an end to them for me

Gilmore, waters , Wright ,Mason in one room

or

Barrett , waters , Wright ,Mason in one room

Gilmore without waters , Wright & Mason is not pink

although Gilmore is amazing , he's the johnny come lately of the band.
he's only part of floyd because Barrett Burned out & faded away

Thanks for memories Jeff. Takes me back to my teenage years and after a grueling night of clinical white blotter......
Someone put on Atom Heart Mother and I remember laying there half alive, listening to bacon and eggs sizzling.....
Which brings me to another point. I have that album on c.d. but it's not the same.
My copy back in those days, was all scratched up and left this continuous crackle with a large crunch every revolution of the record.....
That sounded like a heart beating. The constant crackle (with lots of pops) was like a warm, secure fire that comforted me after a night of insanity!
Well, you need some LSD to understand my point!
