Paul wrote WOODEN SHIPS along with Steve Stills and David Crosby while on Crosby's sailboat in Ft Lauderdale.
Both CS&N and the Airplane recorded the song in slightly different versions.
Paul was into Science Fiction which appeared in many of his songs, including the album "Blows Against the Empire", and along with Crosby who shared a house together in Mill Valley at one time, passed out copies of Heinlein's "Stranger In A Strange Land", which influence Crosby's song, "Triad".
*footnote: Long before Stills formed Buffalo Springfield, he lived in Gainesville and sold peanuts at UF Gator home games to buy a guitar.
