This CD was released in conjunction with Ron Howard's new film- EIGHT DAYS A WEEK/ The Touring Years.
The songs on this CD were recorded 1964/1965 on three track analog tape, and were digitally remastered by George Martin's son, Giles.
What is amazing is how well this CD sounds, one can actually hear The Beatles over the screams.
I saw The Beatles, September 1964 at the Gator Bowl in Jacksonville, and this recording is a great representation of a Beatles concert of that period.
One must take into account that in 1964/1965 there was no such thing as a sound reinforcement system, miked drums, or monitor speakers for the band.
They sang through a very basic Pa system , and The Beatles guitar amplification was only their AC-100 VOX amps, the first 100 watt amps of that time period.
What one is hearing on this CD is a true Beatle performance, natural vocals and harmonies as they happened, and the sound of John's 325 Rickenbacker, George's Gretch Country Gentleman (1963 Rickenbacker 360-12string on Hard Days Night, Help, You Can't Do That) Paul's Hofner Bass all through those VOX AC-100's, and Ringo's unamplified drums.
It is totally amazing that could stay on key with the vocals and on time with the constant scream assault of thousands on teenage girls with equipment that wasn't designed to project in a stadium.
But they did, and this is a testament to their musical professionalism.
