    Banjo and autoharp.

I have a homemade banjo and an old autoharp that belonged to my Great grandparents. He made the banjo sometime before he came to NC from the mountains of Tennessee. I have no idea how old the autoharp is but I think I remember 1888 being the date. Maybe not.
He died in 1957 at nearly 100 years old.

There are few things in the world as cool as a home made banjo. Thanks for sharing that one.
Say what you mean - mean what you say, and never back down when you are in the right.

Old relics are easy to find. I find one in the mirror every time I look there.

My grandfather sent my dad and his brothers out to find pieces of glass. He used them to scrape the wood finish on a fiddle he made. I never saw it, but it was supposedly a bit larger than normal fiddles. My grandfather won several contests at the Alvarado, Texas, 'Old Fiddlers Reunion' with that fiddle.
I asked some of my older kin about what happened to the fiddle when I was in my teens. My dad didn't know. I was told that it was probably sold after my grandparents separated. He was older and unable to work. Probably needed the money. He had been offered quite a bit of money for it some years before.
