Found this head while deer hunting last week in SW Colorado. Was'nt really hunting heads at the time, just happened to look down and there it was. Next to my boot. Almost stepped on it. Arrowheads have always been a hobby of mine. So the first thing I did after getting home was clean, look up, and date the head. I am posting it in here in this forum due to the fact that it is one of the older heads that I have found and I have never found one made out of this material.

This is a side notched, San Pedro Style arrowhead. It is from the Late Archaic Period (2500-1800 B.P.).
It is made from a pinkish basalt type stone. The bottom right corner is broke off just below the notch. (Heartbreaker!) Without the heartbreaker, it would have been a perfect find. Oh Well. Still exciting.

Thanks for looking.

Congrats! That is a pretty one even with the small break! Glad you got it in a display already!
