USA army button, more info needed

Hi,

I found this very nice button a time ago.
Somebody in my country (Netherlands) thought this is a button from the USA.
Belongs to the coat of warrant officer - neat tenue (green coat).

Is this right?
If somebody know more, please let me know.
Is it silver (i don't think so)?

We thought this is a button from World War 2.
Founded on a path in the woods.
