An unusual bronze pendant , looks to be C12th and most likely Byzantine. It was known that many crusaders en-route to the Holy Land called into Constantinople where these type of things were sold as lucky charms. Unusual design, crosses were the normal charm a crusader or pilgrim would carry. On one side there is an image of a mounted horseman wearing a typical European style helmet of the period, below the horse is a crude figure that has been pierced with a lance which has a clear pennant affixed to it. There is an inscription in what looks like Greek but i havn't managed to deciper it yet. The reverse is quite dirty but is also covered in Greek script. The hanging loop is complete and original .
