    Best finds to date...

    I only have one picture on my computer right now which only shows a few relics (no coins), but I have some more close-ups around here somewhere that I can upload and add to my post later..

    My favorite finds so far (categorized) from the last 15 years of detecting:

    Civil War Relic(s):
    Confederate Cast Block I button in near perfect condition
    Union Infantry Officers button in near perfect condition (still has all the gold gilt).

    Oldest Coin:
    Chinese cash coin dating back to the early 1700s

    Oldest American Coin:
    181X Large cent (only the first 3 numbers of the date are legable).

    Most valuable coin:
    1896-O Barber Dime

    Other unique favorites:
    Several minnieballs carved into chess pieces and figures.
    Large 10k gold 1949 Class ring

    Still looking for my first gold coin.

    Thanks for the comments.

    Tank,
    A few years ago I thought I had actually found my first gold coin in a local park.. It came out of the ground all shiny and gold, but it read really high on the VDI so I knew something was wrong.. After closer inspection, what I had found was a fake or a copy of a gold coin (the one with the indian head on it). It was gold plated. Man was I disappointed! Oh well, I'm sure we'll both find one sooner or later.
