WW2 Aircraft parts.
I hope I put this in the correct place as im new to this forum. I live in Hamilton New Zealand and I have been digging up aircraft parts from our back end property since I was 6 years old (now 18 going on 19). The aircraft were: Kittyhawks, Corsairs, Venturas, Hudsons, Harvards and I believe Avengers too. They were used by the RNZAF in the pacific, and after the war they were melted down or destoryed. I also try to clean them up so people can identify them better. I was also in paper for the finds recently: http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/2828...s-WWII-history . here is a few parts I have found over the years.

Re: WW2 Aircraft parts.
I have more that I dug up a while back. One bit I found was a U.S.N Kinfe. I wonder if it came out of one of the planes? Heard there was a Catalina around there also, but never seen any in the pictures. It has numbers ingraved on it. 4011. Stay tuned, there is more photos! I will be going the aircraft dump right after this post. So who knows I might find something good!

Re: WW2 Aircraft parts.
Very nice. I have a 1943 Boeing Stearman I have restored and fly. I would like to see a few pictures of the area/terrain where your digs are. Dig they bulldoze everything into a pit and burn it?
Thanks

Re: WW2 Aircraft parts.
Hi there. well they had workshops up the top and took the aluminium off most of the planes and melted it down, im guessing most of the parts were burned. lots of melted bits down there, but then again there are some parts with paint still on them so its hard to say. Here I got some photos before it had sand dumped on it. I still find parts, its just harder to reach them. Nice part you were talking about!

Re: WW2 Aircraft parts.
Great stuff you've been digging, is that a 30 or 50 caliber shell casing converted to a bottle opener?

Re: WW2 Aircraft parts.
I believe the shell casing was made into a whistle!!! not a bottle opener.

Re: WW2 Aircraft parts.
Hi there! Its a bottle opener as a concil member also has one and used to play around the aircraft before they got destoryed.
