I found this coin along with other Spanish Reales on the Shores Of Lake Eire. Some people travel to the East Coast to find these and I found it a few miles from my house. I have found many coins Spanish Coins from the 1700's but I never expected to find something like this. I know the shore line was used as a route of travel for our early settlers and many items have been lost in the sand and in the water. I will continue to post a few items that I have in my file until you people are tired of me. Jim

I know the dating can be determined by the tips of the cross. You can look up the dating issue on the net. You will be required to compair the tips for dating.
Thanks for looking and thanks for your comments... Jim

The cob is very nice.

I also hunt the great lakes and few people today realize how awesome they are for really super treasures.

I'm hoping for a Copper Culture spear point :)

Do you find a lot of silver and rings on the shore of the Great Lakes ? I am guessing but I think you may be from the Michigan area. I would like to know about your finds. I have found over 800 coins in a day on the beach using shovels and a detector. All were trapped behind some large boulders that held the coins for years. We found bust, seated, barbers, half's, gold rings, silver coins and many other items.. Let me know how you do .. I may be able to help in your Great Lakes beach hunting. Jim

Welcome to the forum, Hunter. We'll never get sick of looking at great finds like yours.

What general area do you live in? I'm about 50 miles east of Lake Erie in PA. I haven't been detecting there yet.
