I originally posted this under todays find but the more I admire this coin the better it looks. So I just had to post it here. I found it back in August at an old homesite in Central, Ohio. So far, nothing else besides a Merc has come out of here.

I did a little more cleaning on it with my elecric toothbrush and some fine toothpaste. I added a little vegetable oil on wiped it dry. I think the cleaning removed a little of the brown as it looks more greenish (patina) then before. You can read the whole story under todays finds.

Thanks for looking. Ron

Let me one of the first to say that I enjoy seeing all of your posts. You find some very good "stuff".

This Large Cent is one of the better ground found coppers that I have seen ! Keep all of the posts, and pictures headed this way

Nice going thats in great shape :icon_thumleft: a few weeks ago i found the same one but not close to the quality yours is in , but its still a 1829 copper about a foot away i got another good hit i thopught it was another copper it was a 1837 Canadian half penny , back in the mid 1800.s there used to be a farm house there now its a open field with huge !! trees that have to be over 200 years old a great place to look .
Again you got a great find, Jim

Thanks Jim. The soil around where I hunt is really good soil. No clay. I've been fortunate to pull almost all coins from around here in great shape. Love that old Canadian Largie too. Ron
