What are some of your best NUMBERS days?
By numbers I mean the most of anything you've found on a single day and that hunt will always stick in your mind as be great.
The ones that stick out for me are....
-28 Large coppers (1830 was the newest)
-5 early military buttons (Were Rev War)
-180 Enfield bullets
I don't think I'll beat my copper count, and know I won't find more Enfields, but I do believe some day I will hit a site and find more than 5 early military buttons... and I can't wait to post it!

There was many all over the field, but one spot had such a concentration it could have possibly been a cache but we'll never know. (ploughed field) The other person who I started the day with also dug about 28, and another friend got there later and found 16. (it was far from tapped out after that hunt) We know the site as the Coppermine.

Nothing to add to this one(thread) as mine comes in one's and two's But will say that the day I come across that many coppers in one spot whether it is a ploughed field or not.It will be when I'm done with it! Might even think it was a copper mine!
JUST ADD THE SEED!

Re: What are some of your best NUMBERS days?
Iron Patch, I doubt if I will ever get close to your number of coppers ever (repeat ever). That is amazing! I know that in the "good old days" I occasionally found eight or ten large coppers in a day, but that was about tops. For silver though I never counted, but I know that on one occasion where I turned over every 1930's concrete picnic table top and bench that had collapsed at the old 'Forrest Park" I filled both pants pockets with silver so heavy it was hard to keep my pants up. On another occasion early on in detecting I was first to our elementary school's sledding hill, and I filled my pockets again with silver finds from the last "bump" where we'd all wipe out as children.

Re: What are some of your best NUMBERS days?
I can't recall my best day as regards numbers or quantities of anything. If I come home with a coin or two good enough to put into my coin album then its been a good day! I will be starting to keep a day to day record of my coin finds commencing Jan 1st '10 (01/01/10 just don't look right does it!). I like coins, coins are what I go searching for, anything else is second best (apart from modern crappy decimal coinage of course).

My days mentioned above all happened over 5 years ago. There's certainly no guarantee anything like that will happen again, but I'm hoping.

I never used to count until a year after joining Tnet, I have to say it's quite fun. Dad & I have plotted with our GPS over 2500 significant finds this year alone, not including 3093 buttons & all the post Medieval stuff we don't record
