Here is the updated total from the "hay field" This field has been good to me !
The hay field accross the road from me has turned out to be the best MDing spot that I could ever hope for. I started last fall and made a few nice finds includind a G.W. Inaugural Button, Two 1803 Draped Bust LC's, dateless Classic head LC and a few other keepers.
My first serious hunt this spring was in this field and I dug a 1798 LC and a matching set of 4 large flat buttons.
I realized that I had found an old house site. A few more coins including my first Colonial Copper, 1787 Massachusettes, and my favorite find this year, 1800 80/79 Draped Bust Large Cent in amazing condition came from the dirt.
The buttons were plenty at this spot too. Several Tombac buttons in various sizes, 7 early flat buttons, Massachusettes Civil war button, TWO!! pewter USA buttons!! One of the pewter buttons is also in amazing condition for a dug pewter.
I took a group shot with all of the best stuff from last fall and this year.
Thanks for lookin'

That is one nice hay field you have to hunt. I would love to hunt that with you. Those are some really nice old coins. I would pound that field for a very long time. Good luck in the spring and hope you find some more Banner coins/buttons. Like your GW finds (i hope I'm right) about what you found. HH Ron

I really like the 1800/79 as well, But finding USA buttons along with a GW is something to write home about. Man, I hope that field spits up some more stuff for me to drool over.

That thing will stay with me forever I cant seem to find very many other USA pewters that are as good as the one that I dug this year How good is this button?

I personally say VERY VERY GOOD..pewter doesn't seem to hold up very well. Although in some cases such as yours, pewter seems to endure the test of time. Thankfully VERMONTPACKRAT came along and saved these fine specimens.

Awesome finds, you are really lucky to have access to a field like that.
