Here are mine...Two years (and a bit) has given me this to date. Most of my finds have come from three parks nearby, and my( ) mountain. I know pretty much next to nothing on the date of any of these, so feel free to express any ideas or share any knowledge. Look forward to seeing everyones pieces
I find very few religious items. This is from 2009, fairly small but over 250 years old.
How were you able to date that? I found a similar crucifix at the 3rd American field and wonder if it could be that old as well...
Mine was in the heart of a French site where every find dated to that period. Your cross probably dates with the other stuff found, 1780s/90s or a bit later. Don't think there's any way to know for sure.
AMERICAN DIGGERS ON SPIKE: THE TRASH WE WOULD LIKE TO DISCRIMINATE OUT!
My best religious medal so far is Our Lady of Guadalupe, which is marked on the front: Guadalupe De Mexico 1817 and on the back: Nonfecit Taliter Omni Nation, which is Latin for 'He has not done this for any other nation,' Psalm 147:20.
I was MD-ing at the beach, and it started to rain. I got under a deck landing to keep my DFX dry until the shower was over. When I slid under the deck, the machine went off. . .I figured it was yelling about the nails in the deck, so I turned it off. After a few minutes, I thought, maybe not. I turned the DFX back on, and realized all the noise was about this Our Lady of Guadalupe. Breezie
Every time I watch Gone With The Wind, I think we're gonna win this time!
From just around my home and in my woods, I found these religious pieces. The first pic is a close-up of my favorite. It is hand painted, very very small, and have no idea of how old it is. Any guesses would be appreciated.
The group picture includes a few eaten ones, and most are white metal, except for the upper right one, that has been identified (here on Treasurenet) as 1600's Jesuit.

I sometimes believe that we don't find the pieces, but that the pieces find us.
If you haven't already, check out wikipedia, there's quite a history to Our Lady of Guadalupe.

The hand-painted is fantastic! I'd love a find like that - when you consider what a role art plays in society and culture....
Without question, I know very little, as I've only recently begun my interest...but, looking through religious images through the centuries on google, I'm gonna put my guess in at 18th century. I would definitely bring it in to a museum or someplace to have it properly dated and appraised.

I found it in the forest, and will be going back to that area to do a few pieces I didn't have time for then. Looking better at the metal part, it looks cast, in what I'm supposing is more modern than 18th century. I'd saying late 19th century, but you are correct, the style of painting (enamel?) is much older.
I dug this out of wet sand on the beach not sure what its made of it looks tarnished like silver i only cleaned off the front made it Italy it sure is a nice piece HH Jim
