Small silver locket with a lock of hair in it. One side says Mary and the other side has a sheep with a cross in the background. No idea how old it is but the field that I found it in gave up several coins from the 1700s. It's just a little bit larger then a nickle.I would love to know the story behind it.

I think my coolest is in no way my oldest, but its a cracking complete Petronel, Fishtailed musket from circa 1640s.
Whenever, I do my public displays most people comment on this find :)

That is one of the coolest things I've seen. Can you give us a little info on it? Were they toys like the mini canons? :dontknow:

Yep, fits the cool criteria for sure! It actually makes the little cannon look boring and I do like those too.

One of the cooles things I think I've dug is this horse and rider carved from lead. I dug it in a pit in a civil war camp that was used by both sides. It is about 3" long and 3" high. The heads were wrung off for some reason. I dug the heck out of that place looking for the heeads and legs but never found them. Scratched in the back is CompA 116 vol regt
thirteen
May 13 1863

The thirteen kind of overlapses the date like it was put on afterward.

Weird... if you look real hard at the side that is concave, there is a picture of a pirate ship with IP walking the plank. Can't see the word "copy" though. Strange - and I thought I had a vivid imagination.

I thought this was kind of cool. It's a colonial era candle wick trimmer and snuffer. I found it in three pieces spread over a "hunted out" early French site.

I found a middle piece at the Cossack cob site. Not sure if anyone else dug the other parts.
