Good Idea on the Thimbles, but mine from the plough fields are not so pretty. 1 of them was a rare Charles I period with his head facing left but its just 3 small pieces & never found the rest
My fav are the Beehive Thimbles from the Medieval period, had quite a few of these but only pictured the better ones.
Plain copper types must run into the hundreds but don't keep them anymore unless unusual.

Welcome to Tnet! , I think you all have me beat! But is something thats not changed much over time that I can tell.I've only got a few pieces but all did come from very early sites here in the U.S.say 17th & 18th century. One is a open end type the other like it not sure about. I think later on say like the 1800's some were really nice like some of yours that were silver and all. Not much to mine other then old probably need to chunk them but thought seems how they came from such early sites I hold on them for now.Anyway you should get some more neat ones to be posted as I've seen a few on here in the past.
Take Care,
Pete!
All of my thimbles have come out of plowed fields also
strange that most of my Silver ones are damaged, but I have found tons of copper ones not harmed - just sods law

Welcome to T Net plymouthian12 nice variety of thimbles you have
I've found a few copper and aluminum ones. All damaged in one way or another.
Including the one (my best) i'll add to this post. It only took me 10 years to find
a sterling thimble an it was semi flat when i dug it up. Luckily there was a small
rock inside it that saved it from being totally flattened. I took a big risk but i got
the bottom part round again. It has a makers mark - Ketcham & McDougall. They
started in 1875 and ended in 1932. I don't know when this one was made
though ?
thankyou for the welcome i dont know about anyone else but i like finding thimbles just suck a personal item
I don't think I can reach mine

My one and only thimble (sterling #7), found it back in Nov. 2008 in an old Chicago park. It also looks like it has a gold band around it but I couldn't find any markings for gold.
