I was about six. My big sister (13 years older) was recently married. We were at a beach when she told me to hold her ring while she went to swim. I put it on. When she was in the water I quickly pointed and exclaimed, "Look at Rose Ann!" And with that the ring was gone.

Then I remember us all sifting through the sand with bright pink and orange kiddie sand-toys borrowed from the other blankets.
