Whats your best Love Token Piece???

This one I like the best that I found so far I have found individual love tokens before but never something like this it was found last spring I dont think I ever posted it here in T-Net... there are only 4 seated dimes left out of a possible 10 it was found in an old picnic grove that was in a valley under an old wooden train bridge!! dates are 1875, 1857, 1882, and N/D, on the reverse is "HR", Lou, Milton, and Eva the band was made from seated quarters you can still see some of the reeded edge left on top of the band.

I don't know if this qualifies as a love token, but here is a picture of a "pop-out" coin made from a 1912 Barber dime. It was made into a stick pin.

Here's one for you, JD. This was given to me as part of a small coin collection my Dad gave me last year. It's made out of an 1853 half dime, and I believe it was once part of a jewelry piece. This is one of my favorite pieces in my collection, the art work is so well done. Love tokens are really nice, unique pieces, and I really love the ones you posted. Thanks for starting this thread!

The only coin I have that may have been a love token is my oldest coin find.
It's an 1853 Seated Half Dime with arrows, I believe. All you can actually see of the date is part of the "3" on the end.

The small piece shown in the pic was attached to it and it looks to have been used as part of a bracelet, or something. The reverse side has been worn smooth...

That's a beautiful love token BK, I really like it. I've never seen one on a penny before, mostly dimes and quarters. Thanks for posting it.

Monty, from what I know of love tokens, they were popular in the late 1700s to the early 1900s, as a less expensive way of making a piece of jewelry for a loved one. People would mill one side of a coin flat, and then engrave the flat side with a personalized message or picture. A lot less expensive than buying a peice from a jeweler I guess. Most of the ones I have seen (on eBay) are crudely done, typically with initials in a heart or something similar, but the ones in this post are really intricate, carefully done examples.

treasurekidd, I have been trying to ID my token/tag ever since I found it 6 feet under the sand after hurricanes hit the Treasure Beaches in Florida. After reading your first link, I am convinced I have a love token with birth and death dates of a 3 day old child. I still do not know the country of origin or the century.
