    Irish Volunteers of Charleston Button

I found this button in 1971 in my neighborhood near Charleston S.C. I dug it with a Relco metal detector down the street from where I grew up.

I was 14 at the time and I was sure I would dig dozens of these. It was the first known example of an Irish Volunteers of Charleston found, and was photographed and used in Alberts Button book, where it still is to this day.

So, take a kid detecting....you never know, he might make some history too!

Talk about a rare and historic button!! Congrats on such a rare find and having it in Alberts!! Your example is crisp and I can relate to giving something away, then having second thoughts. Still, the credit is yours and thanks for showing us such a rare button from a famed unit!
PS, I replied back to your post on my thread today.
    Take care!
