    Caligula Denarius

    Hi Folks

Found this little beauty a few weeks ago wandering around a field in Yorkshire

Bit rarer than most Denarius found in the Uk ............. i cant stop smiling

Its the 2nd time I have searched this field .......... back in January this 2nd century Roman brooch turned up , cant wait to get back there but the crops are on at the moment

    Thanks for looking

    Chris

Hello fellow UKer...welcome to T. Net

Have you posted two coins... Or is it a Double Header...can we see the reverses. I hunt in Yorkshire and found a Calligula also as you say much rarer than the norm and can fetch a pretty penny

Edited.....I can see now it is a Double header...Great Find Gaius Caligula and Germanicus Denarius. Struck 38/9 AD. C CAESAR AVG GERM P M TR POT, laureate head of Caligula right / GERMANICVS CAES P C CAES AVG GERM, bare head of Germanicus right. RSC 2.

One of these coins sold for $1,040.60 a while back
