Gold Coin of 20 $ (1904 ).
It is not a finding made by metal detector, nor a Spanish coin ... but is a treasure that I wanted to show you, in this forum there are many people interested in look these coins.
On May 10, 1958, my paternal grandmother carried out the purchase of this coin, 1904 of 20 $ in Barcelona.
Is a " Today find " that remained hidden for 52 years , been recovered recently from a hideout .This coin is of great sentimental value to my family, and is in very good state of preservation.
Greetings everyone!

Half of the story is knowing about how it lasted 52 years and how it was hidden. Can you share "The Rest of the Story..."?

The coin is in perfect condition because it was protected by a gold pendant of 18 k, and stored in a wooden box in a cabinet over the years.

I am glad that you recovered it from it's hiding place so that your family can continue to enjoy it. That was a LOT of money back then, but a good investment!

Re: Gold Coin of 20 $ (1904 ).
I find myself in some what similar position as you. My Father was given a $5 gold piece, by a friend of his, who was giving one to each of his children, and thought enough of Dad, to include him. It is an 1880 S Mint, and has double wings. Its in Mint, or near mint condition. It was given to dad in a small purple bag and has always been kept in the little bag. What is the significance of double wing, and what is it worth. I will never sell it and will pass it to my son with my other gold coins. It has great value to me for its history. Thanks to all you members for your help.
