I was inspired to do an 18th century pottery thread. I thought it would be a good idea since I have not seen one before.
These sherds were eyeballed at a Colonial site last March. We dug 15 coppers and 45 buttons out of this field. There were so many ceramics and black glass on the ground that I was tripping over them. That is my kind of site.
These are a little different , but I wanted to play along! Here is an 18th century redware bowl found in two parts that I had restored. It came from water and is called a milk pan. Some KGs, pewter spoons, and buttons also came from site.
The last piece is a 1760s air-twist wine glass stem also found in water broken at the bowl joint. I had a friend cut and glue a modern wine glass bowl to the stem to display it im my collection.

Wish i had a camera i could post a picture of a piece of delftware that i have dated 1732. Its an eggcup in the shape of a chicken. I also have a delftware vase,urn, dated 1875.

Like I've suggested many times, you need to locate the trash pits at that site and dig 'em out. You'll be surprised at all the cool colonial relics that will show up. And once you do that and get hooked, you'll become a pit diggin' fool. Give it a shot. Good luck and HH ..... Bill
Here is the c.1760s bottle that was found on the site of redware milkpan, and also the wine glass stem and joined bowl (not the correct style bowl as there was probably a short fluted cordial bowl on this glass).
The next pic is an early to mid 1700s slipware bowl that I found on a site in two pieces !!
I have gone back several times to this water site hoping to find the remaining bowl piece, but was unable to find it. Sorry to hog your post Kirk, but you're a colonial hound dog too my friend!!

Keith, those water sites have treated both you and the relics very well
The big pile of stuff in the first pic all came from one trash pit at a c1705 site from a couple years ago. Was quite a haul, and that's just my share. Need to go back and do some sifting there. The 2nd pic is just a few random pieces that have been partially reconstructed. I'm fired up now, and ready for another colonial pit dig. It's been way too long.

Thanks Reb. Here's a better pic of that chamberpot. And I see where you found one just like my other 3. I believe those are circa 1740, and were apparently quite common. Nice find!!
Had to quit bring it home. No room here for it.(out of room) Although I do pick it up for others sometimes.One guy buys the indian shards from me.
