Here's a Good un,
1689-94 William & Mary Copper, the only copper to say 'et maria' and that's all that's left on it :laughing7:
This was intentionally placed at the interesction of three stone walls next to a small pillar stone. I believe :icon_scratch:

Hey Gonehunting, I did a little search and found that Spanish silver coins circulated in the U.S. until 1857. In fact, in 1830 approx. 1 in 4 coins in circulation was made in one of the Spanish colonial mints. So I guess they were everywhere. I can't find any though! :dontknow:

Well that makes a lot of sense. I found this coin along with about 15 military buttons from the 1820's to the 1840's. Thanks for the history.

If you can see enough on the other side to say it's British then the date is 1694.

Thanks IP,
I remember Posting 1694 in Todays Finds.
Appreciate the reminder as to why.
Can see the top of Brittannias head, :laughing7:
Definitely a British, the Irish I've seen place
'et maria' above the bust to include 'dei gratia'
It was quite satisfying to dig a coin that's almost smooth, when what remains is enough to easily ID it :hello2:
Wow, Williams sure got a beak, and Marys double chin... ;D
I'd think the Royals would choose more flattering busts.

Early 2 Reale.
Thanks Iron Patch. I would have never guessed it. Another coin found close by had a 1881 date on it.

Wish I could pick up anything on this old copper - have stared and stared to look for any clues - any help would be appreciated - found in an old Dutch area of NJ....

Latest contribution to the worn out coin club. US shield nickel, after a soaking in lemon juice. I had to do it to see what it was. ;D
