Re: Let's see your best dug worn out coin!

1940 (s? d? plain?) wheatie, found outside of a culvert on the beach. It had probably been subjected to seawater for decades. I seem to be lucky with really distressed coins as I can still usually read the dataes. Maybe also thanks to being severely nearsighted, so when I take off my glasses I pretty much can see to the molecular level!

Edit: I really love this coin because it's so bright red. Despite the lower value of non-silver or otherwise cheaper metal coins including copper, some of my post '64 coins are my favorites as their patinas are so bizarre. Purple, blue, green, pink...and I love finding pennies under old trees as the roots or leaves/needles or something tends to make them bright red.

They do get some odd colors..
I dug a large Cent from an area of 'Marsh Hay', the roots ate a pattern into the copper

cool coins, everyone!!

these large cents were all found at, or along the road between 2 neighboring home sites. the dates read with a leweler's loop are 1829, 184?, 1851, and 185?. The silver too was found at one of those sites.

Ok, how 'bout a worn out play money coin. One dime (actually it is the size of a half-dime) this little bugger's been played with a lot! Found at an 1890's homestead.

Here is mine from an old store dig! You can barely see the date...1876. Seated dime. :help:

I found this very cool 1786 New Jersey Copper this summer. It was dug near a soccer field located in a park which was the site of a 1730 farm. I was using my Tesoro Vaquero.

Congrats on a nice state Copper! Still got decent details :D
the dime comparison makes it appear smaller than a MA or a Conn, probably a trick of the camera..

Re: Let's see your best dug worn out coin!

Here are my 2 favorites.

First one is a 1898 Canadian large cent and the second is a 1830s Canadian token of esteem.
