Hey Guys!
Well it’s been awhile since I’ve posted anything. I hope everyone has been doing well!
I found out the other day that a nice ring I found last summer just made the
“Best Finds Of 2010” Issue of W&E magazine! So I thought I would show y'all & tell the story.
I actually have not even received my issue yet. But Vol1266-X was nice enough to call and tell me I had made it & then sent me this picture of the page! (Thanks again Q!)
I found this ring out in the water at a busy beach located SOMEWHERE IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
My old buddy Seabiscuit had talked me into playing hooky from work so we could hunt this beach during a weekday when there were not as many people swimming there and kids hanging on your float. Boy am I glad he did!
We were not in the water for 30 minutes when I got a very strong signal from my CZ -20. I thought it had to be a fishing weight. But when I dumped my scoop onto my floating sifter I saw it was no sinker. I’m telling you the sun hit that thing & it was shining bright on that summer day!
At first I thought it was made of silver with a gold band. My old eyes had a hard time reading what the marking were inside it. But I could make out the word “Plat”. I thought maybe that meant "Plated" so I showed Seabiscuit. He said “Oh Man, you just found a platinum ring!” I was fired up then! That was my first platinum ring. We got out the water & went to my truck to have a look at it with a loop. It was then that we discovered that it was also marked 750 (18k). And the band around it was made of tri colored gold! When we got home later we put it on the scale & it weighed 18.7 grams.
I have to admit that with the going price for platinum & gold I could not resist selling it to help pay off some bills. But it will remain one of my best finds of all time. And I am honored that W&E included it in this special issue!
With Spring & Summer coming fast, I can’t help but think about getting back in the water very soon. I can’t wait to check out a few new spots we have targeted as well as all the old ones!
Congrats Rob on an excellent recovery and your second Best Find in W & E. I saw Dman's C.S.A. buckle and Modern Miner's NC buckle but did not see your ring until I read through that issue later that day.
You should not give out such site specific information-LOL. HH, Quindy.

Congrats on making it in the upcoming issue of W&E. Thanks for the accompanying story describing how you found it. Kudos for giving your friend credit for applying the peer pressure that prompted you to play hookie from work.
When you feel down because you didn’t
get what you want, just sit tight and
be happy, because God is thinking of
something better to give you.
